Tony Davenport

Tony Davenport hails from Vicksburg, Mississippi. Davenport earned his BFA in fine arts from Jackson State University in 2002 and received a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Memphis College of Art in 2019. Tony is  a certified K-12 Visual arts teacher and  has taught visual art in both Mississippi and Tennessee for 15 years. As an art educator, he believes that arts integration is vital in teaching children to use creativity as a vehicle to navigate through social interaction among people, cultures, and communities.

As a professional artist, Tony utilizes the elements and principles of design to illustrate the expression of the human form working in concert with musically themed influences. Davenport has illustrated magazine covers for the Jackson Free Press. In addition, the artist has designed the official posters for the Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festivals (2006 ,2008 & 2015). In addition to being an accomplished artist, Davenport also performs as a live performance painter. Whether he uses an arts integration approach to educate through historic people or vistas to painting live at events near and far, Tony Davenport’s images capture the essence of life in reflections that transcend time and place without boundaries.
